The water ripple metal surface is a captivating finish that mimics the organic movement of water, creating a flowing and distorted visual effect. Through large-scale 3D processing, this unique texture combines fragmented reflections with a dynamic interplay of light, transforming walls, ceilings, and other architectural elements into captivating focal points, adding sophistication and richness to any space.
Water ripple stainless steel is a decorative panel whose surface is shaped in three dimensions. The ripple effect is achieved by stamping or roll forming, creating a surface with peaks and valleys which scatter reflected light and thus create varying effects depending on the viewing angle or lighting.
The surface is available in natural stainless steel and chosen PVD colors. The ripple effect, depth, repetition, size of the sheet, edges, and method of installation are customizable based on project needs.
Approval of the physical sample must be attained before production.
Water ripple stainless steel sheets can be fabricated into wall panels, feature walls, ceiling panels, soffits, column wraps, door panels, lift-door panels, decorative screens, partitions, furniture facades, reception-desk facades and art installations.
Typical applications include hotel lobbies, high-end restaurants, retail spaces, clubs, private residences, offices and art galleries.
The three-dimensional surface creates distinctive light and shadow effects, adding depth, movement and visual interest to interior spaces.
For exterior, coastal, poolside or humid applications, the material grade, supporting structure, drainage, fixing system, cleaning method and finish durability should be reviewed before production.
304 Grade
304 stainless steel is suitable for most interior wall, ceiling, screen and furniture applications.
It offers good corrosion resistance under normal indoor conditions and is generally easier to form for decorative ripple applications. It can produce clear and consistent ripple patterns and is usually the more economical option.
304 stainless steel is commonly selected for hotels, restaurants, retail spaces, residences, offices and interior decorative panels.
316 Grade
316 stainless steel provides higher resistance to chloride exposure than 304 and may be considered for humid, coastal, chlorinated or more corrosive environments.
It can help maintain the appearance of the surface when correctly specified, fabricated and maintained. However, it normally has a higher material cost and may require tighter process control and suitable tooling during forming.
316 stainless steel is not completely corrosion-proof. Proper detailing, installation, cleaning and maintenance are still required.
Grade selection should be based on the actual environment, exposure level, cleaning method and expected design life rather than appearance alone.
Dynamic light and shadow
The formed surface scatters highlights across the sheet. Natural and architectural lighting can create a changing, water-like effect instead of a flat reflection.
Distinctive architectural texture
The ripple pattern adds depth and visual interest to large surfaces. It can also be coordinated across wall panels, ceilings, screens and furniture elements.
Flexible color direction
Natural silver emphasizes the reflective ripple pattern. Selected PVD colors can create warm metallic, dark contemporary or luxury visual effects. A physical sample should be approved before final color selection.
Coordinated fabrication
Pattern direction, panel breaks, returns, cut-outs and edge details can be planned with the fabricator so that the texture remains visually consistent throughout the installation.
Decorative performance
The ripple texture is primarily decorative. Although the forming process changes the sheet profile, it should not be used as a replacement for structural design, panel support or an engineered stiffening system.
