304 Stainless Steel

Grade 304 is suitable for most interior and mild outdoor applications.

Advantages:

  • Good formability
  • Lower material cost
  • Wide availability
  • Suitable for ceilings, partitions, doors, columns, and sheltered façades

Limitation:

It may develop staining or corrosion in coastal, chloride-rich, polluted, or poorly maintained environments.

316 Stainless Steel

Grade 316 contains molybdenum and provides improved corrosion resistance.

Advantages:

  • Better resistance to chloride exposure
  • Suitable for coastal, humid, and industrial environments
  • Longer service potential in demanding exterior applications

Limitations:

  • Higher material cost
  • Forming settings may require adjustment

Grade 316 is not completely corrosion-proof. Surface finish, fabrication quality, drainage, contamination, and maintenance must also be considered.
